The summer is certainly here for real, and I don't know what to think of it. The heat is not something I enjoy at all, but I took a sweet walk today, letting my ghostly white legs feel some sun. I've started to get a modest amount of freckles on my nose which makes me happy. I love freckles.

Next week I won't be in Sweden anymore, and If Scotland is half as rainy as they say it is, I'm going to love it there. I'd pick rain and cold over hot sunshine any day, because that's just the way I am. Sitting inside, looking out through a wet, rain stained window is more my thing. I think my dog would prefer it too, she collapsed into a little panting heap on the floor as soon as we got inside. She won't be coming along with me to Scotland though, poor thing. She gets a vacation with my grandmother instead.

Now I'll get back to commissions, I have a picture in the works that I can't wait to share once it's done!

I wanna eat your cinnamon rolls

I thought this place needed some more cute colors after all the black and white I've posted recently, so I picked up this old drawing I had of one of my cinnamon girls and finished it! I'm drinking coffee, feeling hyper, childish and happy! I feel like dancing and jumping and scream-laughing because I'm all excited! Things just feel very good today.

I'm listening to so much music lately, me and my headphones. It's like rediscovering life a bit. Seriously! It feels like that. I'm breaking out of a shell I've been living in for ages, and I feel like screaming to all of the world to join me in some kind of huge party to celebrate life in general. Okay, so maybe I had a little too much coffee and I'm hyperactive, but shit, I won't complain. I'm just happy today!

Sweet Picks!

It's all black and white today, and slightly emotional, kind of like my state of mind I guess. I'm pretty sure the colors will come back to me soon. I've just had a long day and right now, no energy remains. I love these images though, and I feel inspired by them all. I wish I had the energy to create more art myself right now to get some of that inspiration out, but yeah, the energy is gone. Tomorrow is a new day. Now I'll kick back in bed and blow my mind away with some kickin' dubstep. Mhmm...

Who the hell is this Matthew Joy person anyway?!

I'll tell ya!
Matthew Joy and I met through World of Warcraft where we both found ourselves standing in a shady bar, smoking. He was a skilled assassin, and I was a cheeky street kid with a tiny knife that he made fun of. Well that is how it all started anyway...

Since then we have started several projects together and a lot of the art I've been producing lately has been a part of these projects, or inspiration I've gotten from his stories. To show people who he is, I got to do an interview with him!

Where do you live?

A Small village near Aberdeen in Scotland.

Do you like it there?

It's quiet and has pretty much all it needs in it... It's not too pretty to look at. It's got a park which is slowly shrinking. Other than that it's pretty boring.

If you could live somewhere else, where would it be?

Where in the world have you traveled?

Spain, Germany, Cyprus, New York, Washington DC, Boston, Italy, Australia, Florida...

Which was your favorite?

Cyprus. It was nice to see where I was born. The food there is pretty awesome too. And the beaches. The mountains in Cyprus are pretty amazing too.

You were born there?

I was, in an army hospital.

What is the first thing you do in the morning?

Sum up your life in one sentence:

A mundane purgatory between school and university spent writing and searching for inspiration.

What was your childhood dream?

To leave a legacy behind for people to remember me by.

So how would you want your future to look like?

Fame and fortune.

What would you do with your fortune?

Probably squander it on hedonistic desires.

What makes you smile?

Victory. I like to win.

What really gets on your nerves?

People that are overly judgemental or self-righteous when they're no better than anyone else.

What is your favorite word?

Describe an average day in your life:

Waking up, smoking, shower, cleaning. Then at about 5 I eat. Then I write or play games or watch a film or something. And just relax until like, 3 in the morning.

What would be the title of your memoir?

Smoke first, ask questions later.

Is there anything particular skill you'd like to learn?

So, lets go onto the comic stuff, what inspired you to the idea of Bittersweet Comics in the first place?

I'd been browsing web-comics for years and I decided that myself and my friends had such different personalities that it might be interesting to base fiction around.

And what about Deadzone London?

It was based off of one picture that gave me enough inpiration to just have the idea burst into life.

What would you do in case of zombie apocalypse?

I would try to save my friends and family and get to safety. After a decent amount of time I'd try to rebuild a small area of the ruins into a new settlements and go from there.

What would you do if one of your friends had been zombiefied?!

Kill them. For the good of them and the rest of us.

So now you know a bit more, and why this guys name is appearing all over whenever I make new art! Check out his newly started blog (Bittersweet Matt, Ohooo!) I'm sure it will be awesome. In July I'm going to Scotland to meet him and his friends, and I'm super excited about it! I hope you enjoyed this, and make sure to check out our comics on facebook! Deadzone and Bittersweet Comics!

The art of being sleepy

I'm getting things done, I promise, I just don't have anything that's worth showing at the moment, except of course for my own exceptionally sleepy face, so there!

So a bit of a life update then perhaps? What's going on? What am I doing? How the hell will the future unfold itself, huh?! Well, let me tell you a bit.

I'm currently staying as a guest at my fathers place in the city where I was born and where I grew up. Since I barely know anyone here I spend almost all day inside, drawing. I'm currently working on commissions and work for magazines and Bloodline Champions, which is why I don't have anything to show. I'm also working like crazy on Bittersweet Comics so there you can see some new art of mine if you want.

In August I am moving into my own little student apartment and I'll probably be starting to study for a masters degree in "serious games" where I'll keep on studying role play in MMORPG's but on a deeper level than before. Before school starts however I'm traveling to Scotland to meet new friends, take lots of photos and just experience new and awesome things. It's going to be really exciting and I'm kind of proud that I dare to do this, being a person who's secluded herself for ages, not even daring to travel short distances across town to meet friends because of shyness. I'm getting braver, and a bit more free of worries I think.

I'm turning 23 now in July, and I'm aiming to keep on doing what I love, and hopefully be able to share it all if you until you grow tired of me! My Etsy shop has to be put on ice for a while before I get my own place and can unpack all my boxes. I'm going to LOVE moving into my new place, decorating it and making it into my own art studio. I just need a bed and lots and lots of art supplies. I'll let you see the whole process probably. <3

Now, me and my sleepy face will go rest in bed.

Weekend Wishes!

Another weekend already?! Gosh, time is moving fast and I like it! This weekend it's all teal, pale yellow and brown again, I just can't get enough of these colors, ever! If I get to choose exactly how I want it in my new apartment, I'm gonna have these colors all over the place! I'm hoping that I will be able to earn enough money to buy all the amazing artwork I want to put up on my walls, because I don't even want the walls to show for all the cute pictures I'm gonna hang on them!

I'm moving into my new home in August and I seriously can't wait! But before that I have a super exciting trip to make in July! This is why I'm so impatient and want time to move fast, I just want these things to happen now, now, NOW!

A song given

What will grow quickly, that you can't make straight
It's the price you gotta pay
Do yourself a favour and pack your bags
Buy a ticket and get on a train

Cause this is fucked up, fucked up

People get crushed like biscuit crumbs
And laid down in the bed you made
You have tried your best to please everyone
But it just isn't happening
No, it just isn't happening

And it is fucked up, fucked up
This is your blind spot, blind spot
It should be obvious, but it's not.
But it isn't, but it isn't.

You cannot kickstart a dead horse
You just crush yourself and walk away
I don't care what the future holds
Cause I'm right here in your arms today
With your fingers you can touch me.

I'm your Black Swan.

Thom Yorke - Black Swan

I made this picture as a quick sketch in facebook's graffiti app just because of boredom last night and then finished it in photoshop now. I don't know if it's some sort of self portrait or not, it's just random really. I was listening to this song by Thom Yorke as I was painting it. I was given this song some time ago, and I've been listening it to it a lot ever since. I love it really.

Sweet Picks!

I decided to start a new regular feature post habit! I'm a serious picture-addict, and I could probably watch beautiful art and photography for hours and hours without growing tired of it. Sometimes I just feel like sharing all these beautiful things I find without no real reason behind it other than the sake of beauty. So 'Sweet Picks' will feature random sweet picks of pics, as simple as that.

Today has been kind of difficult. I'm waiting for things that will happen in the future, and I can't stand the waiting anymore. I know it will be worth it once I get what I want, but it's still a bit like torture every day knowing, not just yet.. Art is a decent enough distraction though, and these images are so beautiful. Make sure to click the links for the artists full galleries!

Things are messy but sweet

I haven't been writing a lot lately, mostly because I've been traveling around, packing, unpacking, sorting things out. Also I've been working on commissions and illustrations like crazy, and some of that stuff can't be shown to the public, so I'm creating lots of art I'd like to share, but I can't.

Anyway, yesterday I was sorting all my clothes out to see what I wanted to save and what I could give away and what is just.. trash. It was a lot of fun actually, and the bulldog thought it was kind of nice to snooze amongst the piles of pink ruffled skirts, threadless-tees and scarves in all colors and patterns.

I haven't written a lot about what's happened in my life because I just feel like it's private. Everything is working out fine though, and me and J are going separate ways as friends. I hope that in the future we can still know each other as the amazing cool artists that we are and remember all the fun we´ve shared. It's not an end, it's just the beginning of something new.

Now, I still have loads of work to do, and some deadlines to keep. The future holds lots of excitement for me, and I just got the contract for a tiny student apartment and also the possibility of a teachers position at the University. I'd be teaching art! This sparked an idea that I might make into reality at some point if there is any interest for it. E-courses in art, photography and image editing? I'd put together fun and creative assignments, give tips and tricks and show my own process. Sound like anything that would be interesting for you?

Sweet Artist: Fabio Barboni

Fabio Barboni is an Italian artist with a style I fell in love with immediately. I love the soft colors and the dynamic lines of the characers the draws. I'd hang all of these pictures on my walls if I could. Many of my favorite artists are french or Italian, and I wonder what it is that makes me drawn to this style. Barboni's art reminds me a lot of Barbucci & Canepas SkyDoll, one of my own biggest influences in comic book art. I wonder if they are born with it..

Working like crazy

I got a big work assignment right now that I'm pouring all my energy into, and it feels really good. Now all that is missing is my own art studio to sit in instead of my dads kitchen, but that will come eventually, I'll just have to remain patient. Right now I'm really happy that oppurtunities come on knocking and that people like my art enough to pay me to do it, which supports me and keeps me going. It's such a huge boost of confidence to know that my plans to become a full time freelancing illustrator haven't failed.. yet. We'll see how things go once I start paying my own rent, ha!

But lets not worry, right? While I work, you can enjoy a random snail with a rocket launcher I did once while chatting with a certain dude who always have some idea for me to play around with. Now though, coffee and work, here I come!

Happy surprise!

I got a mail today from a reader named Emma who studies graphic design. As a school assignment she used my blog as an inspiration to create a book cover and sent me pictures! As if the fact that she took her time to do this wasn't enough, she made all her book covers look absolutely amazing with her own designs and illustrations. If they were real I would love to read them all and have them in my shelf. Thank you Emma! <3

Commission: Haidee

My newest commission piece, the dryad Haidee. I made this with my pencil in my sketchbook to begin with, the first traditional drawing I've done in a while. After that it's colored digitally and I had so much fun picking colors and experimenting with magic effects. Dryads are my favorite fantasy creature of all. My love for trees and beautiful girls well, they just mix really well in that particular myth. So drawing them is always a lot of fun.

Weekend Wishes!

It's all summery hot around here and I'm still sipping tea, daydreaming about exciting scenarios of the future. I got a sudden urge to list all things japanese kawaii today, and gosh, Etsy sure is full of this stuff. It's difficult to keep the choices down to fit into one post!

I'm going to be working a lot today I think, I have some commissions to fix, and it's really a lot of fun. The wonderful people who buy my art seems to just give me these fantastic themes to draw, so it doesn't even feel like work, it's just amazing and relaxing.

Now I better finish this cinnamon-roll and this cup of tea and just get to it though.

Bittersweet Comics Online

On the side of all-serious-and-dark Deadzone, me and Matthew Joy are working on a webcomic featuring me, him and two other cool scottish dudes. The comic is simply about us fighting against evil AI, trying to take over the world. Being hardcore gamer-heroes, we get conscripted to fight against this evil inside various video games. We even get awesome weapons, mine is the Pencilator! I can draw cute stuff with it.
Check it out on Facebook or on DeviantArt!

I was born here

I went out with Chessy for a photography walk this afternoon. I've been wandering around the little alleys here in Västerås for a few days, always cursing at myself for not bringing my camera with me, so now I just got myself together and did it. It feels strange to be back into the city where I was born and see it with new eyes. I've been around so many places, and I never felt the urge to come back here. I was finished here I thought, but life works in strange ways sometimes, and now I'm stuck here for a while. It's a rather nice place to be stuck at though, so I shouldn't complain. I'll try to remember to bring my camera with me on more walks. I'm sure I can find plenty more hidden cute things in these streets before I move away again.
